Thursday Boot Company builds some of the best value boots on the market. Goodyear welt construction, quality leather, and a price point that makes them accessible — but like any well-made boot, the soles eventually wear out. The smart move isn't to replace them. It's to resole them.
Fred's Shoe Repair is a recommended Thursday Boot repair center, and we resole Thursday boots for customers nationwide through our mail-in service.
When Should You Resole Your Thursday Boots?
Thursday boots are built to last — but the soles take the daily beating so the rest of the boot doesn't have to. Here's when it's time:
- The heel is worn unevenly — you're rolling your ankle or walking differently
- The tread is gone — slippery on wet pavement or uneven ground
- The sole is separating — glue or stitching has let go at the edges
- You can feel every crack in the sidewalk — the cushioning is compressed out
- The welt is starting to crack — act now before it gets worse
Don't wait until the sole is completely gone. Resoling earlier preserves the welt and keeps the repair simpler and less expensive.
Which Sole Is Right for Your Thursday Boots?
Here's what we recommend and why:
Dainite — Black or Dark Brown
The closest match to Thursday's original sole profile. Dainite's studded rubber compound is more durable than what Thursday boots come with from the factory, and the profile sits cleanly along Thursday's welt line without adding bulk. If you liked what you had and want a durable upgrade, this is the one.
Vibram Christy (Wedge Sole) — Natural or Black
Thursday's slimmer last profile pairs well with the flat wedge sole — it keeps the boot's clean silhouette intact while adding comfort underfoot. A great choice if you're wearing your Thursdays all day at work or on your feet in mixed environments.
Vibram 430 — Black
A lug sole with solid traction for outdoor use and wet conditions. A good step up from the wedge or Dainite if you need more grip for job sites and mixed environments.
Vibram 1136 — Black
The most aggressive sole option in our Thursday Boot package. More traction and more grip than the 430 — built for serious outdoor use, job sites, and rough terrain where maximum bite matters.
Leather Soles with Combination Heels
Thursday boots' Goodyear welt construction is ideal for leather sole installation — the welt provides a clean stitching channel that holds leather soles securely. This option takes your Thursdays in a dressier, more traditional direction without compromising longevity.
