Birkenstock Repair Guide — Cleaning, Cork, Soles & Hardware

Birkenstocks are built to last a lifetime — but only with the right care. As an authorized Birkenstock repair center, Fred's Shoe Repair has everything you need to keep your sandals going for years.

Basic Cleaning & Leather Care

On a regular basis, check the condition of your Birkenstock straps. We offer sandal cleaning, leather conditioning, and winterizing treatments to protect your straps from cracking and drying out. A little maintenance goes a long way.

Cork Sealing

Notice your Birkenstock cork footbed starting to crack or crumble around the edges? Cork sealer stops that in its tracks. We apply a professional coat of cork sealer that keeps your sandals looking fresh and prevents premature breakdown. We also carry bottles of cork sealer you can take home for regular maintenance.

Sole Replacement

When the rubber outsoles wear through, we can replace them with original Birkenstock materials or premium aftermarket soles — some of which are more durable and have better traction than what came on the sandal originally. We carry a variety of options to match your needs and budget.

Cork Footbed Replacement

As an authorized Birkenstock repair center, we have access to genuine Birkenstock replacement footbeds — both soft and hard versions, in regular and narrow widths. If your footbed is beyond saving, we'll replace it completely.

Hardware Repair

Broken buckle? Worn-out strap hardware? We can repair or replace any original Birkenstock hardware or leather components. Send us a few photos and we'll assess what needs to be done.

Dog Chew Damage

It happens more than you'd think. If your puppy got to your Birks, don't panic — we can patch, sew, or replace straps and hardware to get them back on your feet.
